For many students who can’t compete in school sports because they are not athletic enough, for students who don’t have too much musical talent and can’t get onto choir, or for student who are looking for a club to join, consider the two technology clubs

North has two tech clubs, the Technology Student Association(TSA) and the Technology Service Club(TSC). At TSA, there is a video game design, a VEX robotics, an animatronics, a biotechnology design, and a system control technology competition with many more topics available to compete upon.

The TSA is focused around a competition that is held during the spring every year. The competition has many different platforms on which to compete. The club president is sophomore Jamie Trontell and the vice-president is sophomore Ian Mancuso. The club contains people with many different skillsets and Mr. Brian Chisholm oversees the club.

In the TSA at North Hunterdon, there are four different groups entering the competition. There is a video game design, a VEX robotics, a flight endurance, and a CO2 dragster design group.

The video game design group is currently working on a puzzle like video game. They have to design an E rated video game that focuses on the topic of their choice. The group contains Mancuso, sophomore Quinn Cleverly, sophomore Dillon Spear, sophomore Tim Hollobaugh, and sophomore Justin Neria.

The VEX robotics group is making a robot that can accomplish the task that the judges decide on every year. The group contains Trontell, senior Marcella Kaplan, freshman Alistair Wilson and freshman Lawrence Luo.

Freshman Jong Su An is competing in flight endurance. He will be making an aircraft that is powered by a rubber band and has to keep it aloft for the longest amount of time

Another student, freshman Jordan Fernandes is in dragster design. He designs a CO2 powered vehicle which must travel 20 meters in the shortest length of time.

The TSC is a club based around the technology as a whole. This club is run by president senior Brett Morris and vice-president junior Eric Gaidos. Morris enjoys keeping up with tech and world news and likes snowboards. “I hopes that 40 to 50 people will go to Gaming Night,” said Morris. The club runs the TRC.

The TRC is where you can go to get your Chromebooks fixed and buy accessories. They sell and lend out spare chargers, lend out Chromebooks for those whose broke, and sell earbuds and screen cleaners to students.

In the club, they also build computers and donate them to charity. The club also talks about current technological news happening around the world.

Every year, there are three gaming nights, which are held on Fridays throughout the year. The first one was in December, the second one will be held on February 20, and the third on April 15.

On gaming night, the club holds competitions for multiple video games like Halo, Super Smash Bros., and Minecraft. There are also many board games that are set up and multiple other video games for others to play if not participating on a competition. During Gaming Night, everyone gets two slices of pizza and a bottle of water. The entry fee is seven dollars and if you bring in a console or PC, you get a two dollar discount.

The TSA and TSC are are held after school on Monday and Thursday respectively.
